Hanson was born on the 8th of April, 1989
Hanson’s craft is a melting pot of his life experiences and world view.Through art, Hanson is able to convey his thoughts and connect with his audience. His formal art training began during his high school days in Australia that led on to a certificate course at NAFA. He received his Diploma in Fine Arts in 2014 from LaSalle College of the Arts Singapore. He continued his studies and received his Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Fine Arts from LaSalle.College of the Arts, in collaboration with Goldsmiths College of the University of London in 2017. When he has the opportunity, he travels around the world and draws inspiration from his journeys. Artistic integrity is something that Hanson holds dear. His favourite works are dynamic expressions and snapshots of his interpretation of Southeast Asian cultures.
Hanson’s artistic practice has a certain innocence to it that is untainted by the world and its vicissitudes. His unique creative view is expressed in his paintings, “Pool of Tears” — Hanson’s graduate piece — a prime example which exemplifies this process with its vibrant use of colours and lighthearted nature. True to his love of learning, Hanson desires to be a student of art always. He will never want to stop honing his craft through artistic works, studies and experiences.
Hanson’s art tells stories through his use of modern/mixed media techniques. He is passionate about portraying the physical and emotional world in abstract forms. Through this channel, Hanson’s art depicts a depth and breadth of expression that is uniquely his.
The primary focus of his art making processes are based on the explorations of form, textures, and spatial compositions. Hanson is also keen on investigating the formal qualities employed in the process of creating expressive paintings that exhibit movement of paints on various surfaces.
Through the exploration of working with painting surfaces such as canvas and wood mediums, he hopes to demonstrate the relationships between abstract forms of art making and the colours derived from shapes in nature, whilst also drawing reference to the symbolism and influence of the varying colours seen in nature.
